Project Progress
Week 1 to 2 (06/09/2023) : Theme and Brand name
 |
Week 1 to 2 (06/09/2022) Choosing the fashion theme
|
We had a brainstorming session where we discussed three different themes: outdoor fashion, lifestyle fashion, and luxury fashion. Of course, choosing the right theme was challenging, especially this is a continuos group assignment, therefore is important to choose the right theme that suitable for all of us. And you can see that we used emojis to vote on our preferences. In the first week, we all found the camping and glamping theme very appealing, especially when combined with fashion.

Week 2 (06/09/2022) - Looking for inspiration fashion bohemian website |
However, in the second week, things took a different turn. We struggled to find examples of fashion products related to camping and glamping. That's when a new idea came up – the summer holiday vibes. People often get tired of city life and crave a vacation. I personally found this idea intriguing, and it seemed like a great objective and goal for our project.
These are the fashion brand website that have the bohemian vibes

Progress when designing Gypsy Logo #2
|
To be honest, I wasn't sure which logo style would be best, so I try my best to make lots of different logos with different style instead and proposed to the team . This way, our team could talk about them and pick the one they like the most. Everyone did great on their way, some focus more onto illustration logo, while some did on typeface logo.

Week 3 (13/09/2022) - Gypsy Logo Ideas from us
|
We received good feedbacks about each individual logo design from Ms Anis. Each style give different feelings. Siew Weng noticed that the logo needed to fit for the website to see how's the overall looks , which is something that I didn't not noticed while doing the logo design , while I'm more focus only the logo design but not the functionalities while how it would roughly looked in website, which is something great that I able to learnt and be better next time. Therefore some changes need to be made before it become the final logo.
 |
Week 3 (13/09/2022) - Try to put inside the website to see how it overall looks |
We conducted a vote to determine the preferred logo design, and it was a challenge for many of us to decide between Serif and Sans-serif typefaces. I understand that everyone has their unique taste in typefaces and logos, it was difficult to create a design that would please everyone. The decision-making process became awkward and silent "abit" when team members asked for individual preferences. Personally, I appreciate both options for their uniqueness, but I realized the importance of considering the team's collective opinion.
Instead of just sticking to my personal preference, is still the best to go with the majority vote. To ensure inclusivity and accommodate different tastes within the team, why not combining both typefaces? I created two additional designs incorporating a wave element and presented them to the team for further discussion.

Week 3 (13/09/2022) - Propose Logo 1 , 2 and 3 |
|
 |
Week 3 (13/09/2022) - More brainstorm to fit the logo into app & website
|
Logo 1: This concept is a fusion of Siew Weng's original logo design, blending the curves of the letter 'G' with a combination of serif and sans-serif elements.
Logo 2: While originally designed by Siew Weng, Logo 2 features a 'G' that may need some refinement for a smoother appearance, which can be addressed if this logo is chosen.
Logo 3: In this version, all the letters are in lowercase, but the 'G' stands out in uppercase, providing a distinctive visual element.
Week 4 (20/09/2023) : Finalise Logo , User Persona , Empathy Map
Week 4 (20/09/2023) : Final Gypsy Logo & Colour Palette |
Finally we have settled and finalised our logo for Gypsy after weeks and weeks and the final is to choose for Logo 1 to become an official logo for Gypsy, and the colour palette I had found is something more "tropical" and "summer vibes" instead.
This week's emphasis is on user personas and empathy maps. After a suggestion from Brigita, the decision was made to divide the work and focus on creating three distinct personas. I chose to concentrate on crafting personas specifically for plus-size individuals, as it appeared to be a promising idea with creative potential.

Jaemeyun Dateu |
Ms. Anis recommended conducting a site visit to gain a more in-depth understanding some of the fashion stores, making it easier to formulate tasks and scenarios for the user journey. (also can enjoy shopping and some dessert date huhu ). We, Jaemeyun , on our visit included exploring a variety of stores, such as Zara, Cotton On, and MANGO. Each of the stores price
From our site visits to Zara, Cotton On, and MANGO, we gathered valuable insights into the diverse offerings of these fashion stores:
Zara- Fashion Variety: Wide range of trendy and contemporary fashion items, do not have much option for bohemian fashion taste
- Inclusive Sizes: Offer inclusive sizing options, especially for plus size , catering to diverse body types.
- Pricing Range: Zara's pricing structure may vary, allowing customers to find items within different budget ranges.
Cotton On- Fashion style : casual and comfortable clothing options , lots of floral flowery clothing and dresses
- Affordable Choices: can be quite budget-friendly options for various fashion preferences.
- Not much plus size selection
MANGO- Chic and Elegant Style fashion pieces.
- Have a varied pricing range, accommodating different budget preferences
- Offer inclusive sizing options, ensuring a diverse range of customers can find suitable items.
These observations help us understand the market landscape, allowing us to better tailor our user personas and design considerations for our bohemian fashion app.
Week 5 (28/09/2023) : User journey map (customer / app) , Time for proposal presentation
 |
Week 5 (28/09/2023) : Discussion Meeting With Gypsy Girlss
|
We decided to team up and create the user journey map together. By working as a group, we can bring different ideas and perspectives to the table. Our main focus is on three types of people: a blogger who loves plus-size fashion, someone really into fashion trends, and a person who loves to travel. This way, we cover a lot of different experiences and make sure our user journey map is well-rounded.
Week 6 (04/10/2023) : Wireframe design
 |
Gypsy Wireframe - Pei Yun's version
|
Before our meetings began, we decided that each of us create our own wireframes. I created also in Figma and I try do some of my own research about AR features that could apply into fashion app, most of the app is having like a virtual try on features that looks coool and this idea is defiantly suitable and apply into Gypsy.
 |
Research about Virtual Try on Features |
 |
Farfetch Brand - Virtual Try On Features
|
While doing this research, some thoughts came to my mind where as technology continues to advance, more and more unique and cool features need to be apply and advanced the fashion brand or their apps to attract their user to using it. It seems like the integration of AR virtual try-on features in fashion apps becomes not just a trend but a necessity, more brands seems love having this idea that able to make online shopping experience by allowing users to virtually try on clothing items before making a purchase. By leveraging AR, fashion brands enhance customer engagement and satisfaction, providing a unique and immersive way for users to interact with their products.

Meetings night with the girlss until 1:00 a.m

Let's go and moving on to Final Prototype >>> Gypsy-Final-Prototype
As my own thoughts keep changing, writing this reflection feels so different during week 7 and week 14.
Decided to wrote again to my latest thoughts instead. This module is actually quite less stress than I actually thoughts, probably that's because each week there's must be a progress and that's why we are not left behind. I actually joined this UX module during last semester, but that time I do not know anyone which felt a bit lonely and do not know who to work with, especially the assignment seems to be ALOT different during this sem. Last sem was about something related to navigation, which seems to be hard. This semester with Ms. Anis has been a positive change. I appreciate the opportunity where we able to work on a topic that we are more familiar with, especially the mix of graphic design, like crafting the brand identity and designing the Gypsy logo, along with exploring themes related to fashion. I must say I am happy and make a good decision to drop UX design module during last semester. About this group assignment , one aspect I particularly enjoyed was the sharing of individual wireframes and ideas, which I think the exchange allowed us to blend different ideas seamlessly, resulting everyone ideas is actually blend inside and in a collective effort that has greatly enriched the wireframe for Gypsy. I learnt a lot and understand the use and tools in Figma, which advanced some skills that could possibly apply into other modules too. As entered week 7, I found myself quite adapting to the dynamics of group work. While I might be on the quieter side at times, it doesn't mean I'm not actively engaged :((( as I am more towards to a listener side, so the conscious effort to listen to the group members, absorbing their ideas and perspectives. Even if I'm not the loudest voice, I still strive my best to contribute meaningfully to the collective effort, recognizing the value each team member brings to the table. It's a process of finding my role within the group and making sure my input enhances our collaborative work. Yayy
