Week 10 (1/11/2023)  to 11 (08/11/2023 ): Prototype Progress

Figma Progress : Split part which part we have to do

As we reached the final stages of creating the prototype, we needed to divide tasks to ensure a consistent design across the board. We all agreed to use the same device size, typeface, colour, and icons. While on the other hand, Siew Weng took the lead in creating a template that we could all follow for our respective parts. Next ,the team split into two small groups for efficiency. In one group, there were me, Siew Weng, and Carmen, while the other group consisted of Jia Hsuan and Brigita. This helped us maintain consistent in our designs, ensuring right track for the final prototype. I was in charged in fews different part and below are some of the progress:

1. Community : Story Sticker

Gypsy Sticker Outcome

I really liked the idea of working on the stickers for Gypsy. So, I volunteered to lead that part of the project. First, I checked out lots of sticker ideas on Pinterest. Surprisingly, designing the stickers was much easier than I thought probably is like keep having idea what to include inside. The stickers turned out just like I wanted them to. I hope people enjoy these little Gypsy stickers, even if they only show up for a short time. Your liking for these small details would make me really happy!

2. Profile

Progress : Profile Page (Wireframe)

Progress : Profile Page

Power of the "Magenta Ruler"

At the beginning, I took inspiration for the profile page from a Chinese app called Xiao Hong Shu. It gave me a starting point for what to include and how to design the page. I was thrilled to see the final result, with all those aesthetic images from Spell customers. Siew Weng have helped and assisting me in choosing aesthetic backgrounds and arranging the profile page. Since I sometimes struggle with consistency, Siew Weng became my "ruler," providing guidance. This ruler was incredibly helpful, reducing mistakes in placing fonts and images.

Profile Scan QR

Progress : Profile QR Scan

Once the profile page was completed, the next task was the QR code scanner feature. This functionality enables users to add different users and view their profiles. Having prior experience with QR code scanning from another module, Siew Weng entrusted me with this part. I had a good understanding of what elements to include for consistency. The icon size, for example, had to match the previous page from the product page, maintaining a cohesive design throughout.

3. Tailor your App

Progress : Tailor Your App

The concept behind the "Tailor the app" section stemmed from the idea of using organic shapes to represent bohemian and tropical summer vibes. Carmen's inspiration, coupled with Siew Weng's ideas, led to the incorporation of this feature. It allows users to customize their app experience based on their preferences, selecting the type of content they want to see within the app.

4. My Order > Order Details

Progress : My Order > Order Details

Example of Order details from other app

Designing the "My Order" and "Order Details" section proved challenging as it required careful consideration of font size, spacing, and the use of various colors to distinguish different text meanings. Seeking feedback from Siew Weng and others was a constant practice, valuing diverse opinions over sticking solely to my own. Although the content might seem a bit lengthy, I compared it to other designs for inspiration. Despite our version having fewer words, I believe it remains acceptable and easily understandable.

7 hours meetingsss

Overall Progress in Figma

In addition to that, the team made a concerted effort to maintain consistency throughout the design. It was a hectic and emotional period, spending entire days working from morning till night, with brief breaks for dinner, and then continuing the process. Despite the challenges, what we aimed to propose was near perfection, and we successfully achieved our goals. I believe it's safe to say, "We're done now." Bagusss Gypsy Girls.

Week 12 (15/11/2023)  : Create Questionnaire & Survey
Time is Gold. Considering the scarcity of time, we strategically divided our tasks. Some of us dedicated our efforts to conducting interviews, while others delved into the analysis after gathering user survey responses. The trio of Brigita, Carmen, and Jia Hsuan performed exceptionally well in their respective roles, ensuring timely delivery for the data analysis team.

Week 13 (22/11/2023)  : User Testing  & Analyse

Respondents A , B and C

During this crucial stage of data analysis, we focused on the survey responses and user testing videos, which included insights from three key respondents: A, B, and C. Link to User Testing : Gypsy- User Testing Video

During the data analysis phase, Siew Weng and I took charge (she's a professional in research disseration I would say) she helped me ALOT in this part (no blame but lots of appereciate) particularly in segregating qualitative and quantitative aspects for analysis.

While looking to the user feedback and having some thoughts like "Is it we not doing well?" "why some feedback seems to be not satisfied" I mean in the reality that it's challenging to meet every user's needs. Even with well-designed apps, there will always be users facing challenges or expressing dissatisfaction with certain features. This highlights the delicate balance in decision-making to address user concerns and enhance the overall user experience. Despite this, let's focus on the overall feedback was positive, with most users enjoying the features offered by Gypsy.

Week 14 (29/11/2023)  : Final Prototype Presentation

"can you feel me?" a non-stop screen record progress

Recording the screen proved to be a bit challenging due to the inclusion of GIFs within the onboarding, home page, and product details page. It seems there might be a bug within Figma, adding an element of difficulty to this stage. Patience was crucial as I had to repeatedly test the application. Completing the entire app recording process took approximately 15-20 minutes. I faced some setbacks, often forgetting which steps to take or missing a step in various parts. Consequently, it took me about a day and a half to complete this stage (cry in all my blood, sweats and tears)

Video Editing Progress for Video Demo

During the video editing process, a spontaneous idea struck me – adding a voiceover of "Gypsy" at the beginning and end. I proposed the idea to Siew Weng, who suggested asking Carmen to contribute a voiceover, saying "Gypsy, Life with Boho." It turned out to be a delightful addition, creating laughter and pleasant memories for us during the presentation. Hehe!

Final Presentation Slides : Gypsy Prototype

Presentation is getting nearer and nearer, we received notification where we have just focus on the summary findings from user testing and also a video demonstration which is some part in the slides is not necessary, this caused us like "WHAT?" and is already getting 1am , is less than 24 hour. During this time we have to cut down some of the flow, and I was already sleepy and have to get ready to wake up in 5am to drive to Uni all the way from cyberjaya.

Siew weng suggest me to be BETTER GO TO SLEEP first, and she will handle it the script and will list some of the part that need to be edit for the video demonstration so I can done it after I arrive campus. She really sacrifice her whole night and sleep just to done this UX presentation slides along with the script for the video demo. :((

Reflection

Week 14 with the gypsy girlsss <3

Each week I have different thoughts when working as a team, sometimes, during week 2 and 3 I feel like I might miss working independently and of course I know there are always pros and cons to it, Why do I miss ? Cause sometime working alone is just to focus onto yourself , you can be your own you , you can have your own ideas , you know about yourself. But now I am working as a team, it can be slightly emotionally draining to constantly consider everyone's opinions and somehow it does lower my self-esteem where I do not know am I able to contribute well to the team. But still I recovered back fast that I acknowledge that there's will be always a value in group work as it brings meaningful perspectives and ideas. Well ya, this is Pei Yun who constantly super ambivert super inconsistency into her own thoughts.

However things come different during around week 9, I find myself getting more adaptable with the team members and feels like getting more closer with most of them, where I can freely talk about my own thoughts and they will always support and give me some suggestion how I can improve and work on. Not gonna lie, around weeks 12 to 14 were the most challenging and super tired (emotional damage) where have to spend most of the time inside room and keep on progress not only for this module but for others too.  Of course, It had its ups and downs. The sweet part was having meetings with Siew Weng and Carmen, making the process enjoyable. I'm glad everything has come to an end, and I'm ready to put a full stop to Gypsy. A big thank you to the Gypsy girls. Life with Boho, Stay Boho!
