Weekly Progress 

Week 1 - 10/01/2023

Brainstorming / Ideation  / Sketches : 

During week 1 , we were allowed to choose our own group members and form into our own group. I decided to join Group 18 and here are my group members were Leong Jia Hui , Yung Siew Weng, Sylvia Lau, Loke Yan Ling and Sim Jian Xiong. We also create a whatsapp group for us to communicate and keep track our progress.

Our leader , Jia Hui also in charge to make a google drive and google docs where we can brainstorm our ideas together. We have our first discussion through google meets and we have came up with 2 ideas about Japanese Culture. Japanese Fortune (O-mikuji) culture and Japanese Summer Festival (Natsu Matsuri) culture . After the meetings ,  we decided to split the task in doing research and I was incharge in doing sketches and research about paper doll

Planning / Organisation / Topic Approvals

Firstly,  we had arranged an online meeting to discuss the task at hand, as well as identifying the key segments that we would need to include in our slides. We planned out how and when we should set takes completed by and decided that we should have meetings every so often to ensure progress was being made.

• Second discussion meeting on zoom - everyone choose a theme of the slides
• Arrange the slides and insert the information and sketches accordingly 
• Submitted the draft version proposal to teams for the lectures to gave feedback to each groups 

Week 3 - 24/01/2023

• Discussion meeting after we have gotten a feedback from Ms Anis about our chosen theme
  
• Rearrange the idea and make sure our chosen theme are on the right direction
• Rearrange both google docs and google slides info 
• Task is to write a rationale to the ideation 3 - about paper doll and paper puppet show
• We create a drive link where we can put the AI. sketches file together

Week 4 - 30/01/2023

Preparation for proposal presentation (Wednesday session) /  Proposal slides submission 

Week 4 is where we have to prepare for our proposal presentation before our study trip, we decided to use spin the wheel where who to present the proposal , well I would say i'm lucky ? Although I did not participate to present but I have to get to start and plan for the location about data collection. We also have to decide the data collection method and after that we are ready to pack and fly to Tokyo !

Japan Study Trip / More task-to-do when we're back (cry) 

• Create another blog for reflection about the japan cultural trip 
• Preparation of data collection slides 

Week 5 defiantly is the week that don't feel like doing any assignment let's just enjoy the trip ! But we managed to do our data collection during the first 2 days and able to enjoy and plan our own route to the next few days. We had collected quite amount of data and get to know more about japan culture when we actually in there. Another reflection about our study trip will be into another blog :  reflection-in-study-trip

Artefacts for the data collection: 

- Bring the collected artefacts for the data collection 
- Analyse the collected artefacts 
- Observational Studies write-up
- Data collection submission 

My task were given to edit the 2 short vlog about our experience in omikuji and gashapon during our study trip, this was actually an additional task that I was request for our data collection as mentioned by Ms Anis we can record how our excitement when we were experiencing in either gashapon or anything related to our data collection.  

As soon as getting nearer to the deadline, there are more discussion meetings about our final prototype design. I was also in-charge in doing re-design the background for Luckymiao and others have their own progress in other website assets too. Besides, I have to start working on poster design and Jia Hui was helpful enough by helping me for the poster content therefore the work flow when designing the poster will be smoother. 

Week 7 - 20/02/2023

• Last discussion on teams about the final changes in prototype and editing the poster 
• Non-stop to trying out for lucky miao prototype 
• Print the poster for the last presentation 
• Upload all the documents and files for the poster and prototype in blog
• We are so ready for presentation !

Week 7 is finally D-DAY ! it's the day to show our results , before the presentation we met each other in-front of the library and to print our luckmiao poster together after that we went to x-space for some small rehearsal for our presentation. Siew Weng incharge to present the prototype while Jia Hui will begin with introduce the poster.  I recorded a video about our lectures Ms Anis and Mr Asrizal's reaction to our prototype and it was so satisfied to watch when there's laughter and smile , glad that our hard work paid off and it was worth it. There's also some suggestion where how we could improve on the poster and website. We began to split task again and enhanced both of it before our final submission deadline.

Ms Anis gave us some suggestion what we could add into our observational studies, we could wrote our experience and excitement about the prototype and think about how we would like to evoke our prototype to others

Week 8 (28/02/2023)

Ms Anis and Mr Azrizal was happy to see the prototype outcome and surprised that we able to make it done within this 8 weeks , Other than that, the poster need some arrangement where it can be less text and focus more on the prototype and ready to submit !

Reflection 

In the past 8 weeks , we have finally been able to produce our precious LuckyMiao. Initially, I remember when we decided that we wanted to have an idea about gashapon, but at the time we weren't sure if we were going to be able to do it or not, but TAA-DAA, we did it! During our last presentation , I couldn't help but think about Ms Anis and Mr Asrizal's reactions to our prototype, their smiles and laughter made us feel really satisfied, and our work paid off, proving that everything we had worked on for the past eight weeks was well worth it.

My honest review as a member of group 18, this has to be my favourite group to be in and I was ecstatic to be a part of it. I guess I will miss being a part of group 18 since we shared so many memories together,  This group assignment allows us to see how everyone has their own abilities in expressing their own ideas, editing, animating, and excellent in coding.In every meeting, Jia Hui, the group leader, will make sure that everyone's contributions are equal and that no one is left behind. We also kept each other informed about our own progress and I appreciated how we could work within deadlines and in synchronization.

Lastly, it is still cannot believe that this semester is over and the feelings inside me are not so happy but sad ? and I already start to miss our Japan study trip again,  wish there are more modules that could have study trip too. I will definitely miss everything and everyone in this module and LuckyMiao will be forever a special group assignment that will constantly remind me about our study trip.
