Week 4 - App Features Ideation Process

Ui/Ux Team Process
We began by brainstorming the app's features and categorizing them into three groups: must-have, good-to-have, and not necessary. This helped us prioritize and focus on the essential elements for the initial app for homeowner and contractor app

Week 4 - Home page brainstorm session

Our UI/UX team, consisting of Jacqueline, Carmen, and me, started with a brainstorming session led by Jacqueline. We decided to focus on designing the home page as the starting point for our app's user interface. We experimented with different color palettes for the home page to find the perfect balance that reflects QuantoCube's brand identity and provides a visually appealing user experience

Week 4 - First attempt of user flow

We also have created the first attempt at the user flow, mapping out the journey a user would take from the moment when they open the app to completing various tasks. The first attempt was actually something is there but not so solid , we decided to do on the app interface first and eventually we slowly will be getting there.

Logo Process
Week 4 - More Variations for the logo

Week 4 - Logo digitise

Week 4 - Logo breakdown and keep refine

Week 4 - Logo breakdown and keep refine

Week 4 was quite overwhelmed for me and the others uiux members , where I tend to find "no direction" which part I should refine more for the logo, I feel like this logo should quickly have a end therefore we could proceed to other part. I feeling stuck, I decided to reach out to Jacqueline and Carmen for their input and assistance. Not going to lie, their support and feedback were invaluable in overcoming these hurdles and feels like the level have be unlock , and I can tell there's a final answer for this logo.

Week 5 - 21/05/2023
Ui/Ux Team Process

Week 5 - Activity and Profile Page Contractor

To streamline our workflow, we divided the responsibilities for designing different parts of the app. I was assigned to work on the gamification, activity, and profile pages, while the others focused on their respective areas like in home page , community page and so on.

Gamification
Week 5 - Gamification Progress
Week 5 - Gamification / Daily Check in Reference

In our gamification component, we have been developing ideas to incorporate a mascot that engages users which also add the use of mascot together to form a stronger identity with it. While for the gamification client were suggested to set a limit on the number of times users can play the games each day to cap the points earned. Additionally, they recommended implementing daily log-in rewards. While these suggestions aim to regulate gameplay and reward consistent usage, we find the daily cap on points might need careful consideration to ensure it does not discourage users.

We plan to revisit this idea and discuss it further with the client and the team to find a more effective way to incorporate the time limit without compromising the user experience

Homeowner Profile
Week 5 - Homeowner Profile Page
Week 5 -
Homeowner Profile Page

Our app includes many features like Quanto Mall, Ideasbook, and Community, which means the profile page needs to handle a lot of information. To make sure it's easy to use, Jacqueline and Carmen suggested looking at the profile pages of apps like Grab, Zus Coffee, and e-wallets.

We started with a basic design and added more features gradually. This helped us create a profile page that is simple and user-friendly, making it easy for users to manage their settings and activities. Our goal is to make sure everything is clear and easy to navigate.

Contractor Profile
Week 5 - Contractor Profile - Public Profile

For contractor profile, there's a simple more direct layout as it did not involve in any reward points or ideabook concept like in homeowner profile , so it most towards to the setting section , however there's a "public profile" a public view profile that able to view for both homeowner and other contractor,

Edit profile with the license
Week 5 - Contractor Edit Profile Page

Week 5 -
Contractor Edit Profile Page - CIDB License

While for contractor edit profile side which requires some research onto the CIDB License , where CIDB license in Malaysia is a permit issued by the Construction Industry Development Board (CIDB) that allows a contractor or construction-related business to operate legally within the construction industry in Malaysia. It essentials by requiring CIDB licenses for contractors on QuantoCube app, as it can help ensure that users have access to reliable and qualified professionals for their home improvement projects

Week 5 - Contractor Edit Profile Page - Reference from other app

To gain a better understanding of what features should be included in our app, I reviewed several other applications, which helped us identify essential requirements and tailor our features to meet regional standards and user expectations. I found that different apps in different countries have varying requirements, For example, Houzz requires just a license number, whereas the Malaysia Swiftly app needs users to upload an ID card or passport.

Homeowner Activity

Week 5 - Homeowner Activity Page
Week 5 -
Homeowner Activity Page
References

The activity page section involves quite alot of planning in terms of the user flow and how it will works in real life, Looking at other apps gave me some good ideas about what should be included however for me, it's still a work in progress and not very detailed yet, but there is definitely room for improvement, where we think in High-fidelity stage to add more details will help make this page more comprehensive and user-friendly.

Contractor Activity

Week 5 - Contractor Activity Page

Week 5 - Contractor Activity Page - References

I am not fully satisfied with the Contractor Activity Page as it closely similar with the homeowner side and the activity flow is not yet complete. Despite this, it is still beneficial for us to have a general idea of the structure that will be implemented in the QuantoCube app more refinement will be made during our high-fidelity stage.

Wire-framing
Week 5 - Wireframe progress for QuantoCube

We have transitioned from low-fi sketches to wireframes and have started integrating them into our presentation slides. We believe it is essential to begin with low-fi sketches to understand the style and concept we aim to achieve for QuantoCube before converting them into wireframes that helps us refine our ideas and ensures a cohesive design all together. This Wireframe isn't the final design as we realised some of the text were small and some part which looks inconsistent therefore refinement will be made in our task 3 - high fidelity stage

Week 6 - 28/05/2023

Week 6 - Preparation and Documenting

This week, we have primarily focused on preparing for the submission and presentation. Jia Hui has been instrumental in helping us compile and organize the content for our project documentation, ensuring it is comprehensive and cohesive.

In addition to preparing the content, we have been rehearsing as a team to stay within the 15-minute time limit. With the extensive content to cover for the application parts, we aim to ensure that each segment of our presentation flows smoothly and effectively.

Feedback

Week 4 - Feedback session : Ms Lilian loves the Mascot Idea

Week 4 - 14/05/2023

Mascot:
  • Shouldn't Be Too Different , They Should Stay as “Twins”
  • Current color palette is effective and should continue to be developed to ensure consistency across all brand elements.
  • Key Is Too Detailed, Might Easily Get Lost
Social Media:
  • Check with the Client on Their Preferences with Templates
  • Color Palette and Typeface Is Good
  • When presenting social media strategies and designs to the client, focus on clarity and effectiveness. Highlight how these elements will enhance their online presence and engagement.
Icons:
  • Translucent Is Not That Practical , Must Have 2 Sets
  • Opt for simple, rounded-corner icons to create a friendly and approachable aesthetic. This aligns with modern design trends and enhances usability

Week 5 - 21/05/2023

Week 5 - Feedback session : More Logo have shown to Ms Lilian
Week 5 - Feedback session : Video Storyboard Idea

Week 5 - 21/05/2023 - Logo:
  • Prefers Idea A (Geometric Shape) and D (Adjust the Strokes)
  • Idea B is currently not considered suitable. It's essential to reassess its elements and determine whether it aligns with the overall brand identity and visual direction.
  • Ideas F, G, and H resemble a graduation hat, which may not convey the brand of QuantoCube
  • Include the Wordmark

Week 6 - 28/05/2023
  • The slides flow well, making the presentation easy to follow.
  • Add graphical elements to enhance the visual appeal of the key visual
  • Present the app first as it is the most important outcome.
  • The user flow is detailed and well-thought-out. The community page is a great addition.
  • The microsite is well-structured, and the user testimonials add credibility

Reflection
Wow , we have came to the end of task 2 with presentation. Reflecting on this task, it often felt like the days were on repeat, with similar tasks being done over and over again as usual as a ui/ux design student. It does feel overwhelmed where it involved a lot of planning, researching, and constantly looking for references to gather more ideas. As a visual person like me , I tend to struggle to come up with solutions directly and tend to spend a lot of time in front of the screen, diving deep into more research and also Behance-ing also keep Pinterest-ing. Despite the exhaustion ,of course working with my ui/ux teammates Jaki and Carme still brought some enjoyment especially during our night meetings where we brainstormed ideas together. Particular when I found myself stuck,  since it had been a while since I used Figma after my internship. Jacqueline and Carmen were always there to help me refresh my skills and remind me of the days when I used Figma constantly. ThankKiew for their support and assistance. I felt nervous and scared about tackling this app project again due to the last semester where having a similar module of doing an app as well. However, knowing that we are taking it step by step, patience, manage my time well (i hope) and of course let's complain less, and tackle this project together ! Looking forward to seeing how everything comes together in the end :D
