WEEK 1 - THE BEZIER GAME
  1. The Bezier Game https://bezier.method.ac )

Figure 1. Bezier Game, week 1 (31/03/2022)

During week 1 with the practical class, we were playing the bezier game. The game is to help us to master with the pen tool and it will be useful when we're using photoshop or illustrator. It is to creating anchor points and drawing curves around the shapes provided. Honestly, it was quite struggle for me as I'm a slightly slower learner, everything was new to me and I am not used to with their hidden function, example "shift" and "alternate" keys.

Figure 1.2, Bezier Game, week 1 (31/03/2022)

There's more different kinds of shapes are coming in different levels. From a simple geometric shapes to organic shapes. It was quite hard while doing into their exactly curve shapes. The result of the shapes in mine are quite messy at first but sooner I getting better and familiar with the tools.

  • First Attempt : 4 nodes to spare
  • Second Attempt : 9 nodes to spare
  • Third Attempt : 17 nodes to spare
I decided to give it a few try after the first attempt, as I still not get how it really works with the tools, I try it again for the second times and kinda get it about how the alternate keys work, Mr Martin told me is to change it directions , as a result for the third time , here I am with the 17 nodes to spare !!

List down 3 favourite graphic design composition work from Pinterest. Explain it on the e-portfolio blog, why do you like the designs?

1. Design by Johanna Goodman

Fig 1.1 Digital Collage by Johanna Goodman

This digital collage design was created by Johanna Goodman. It reminds me the paper dolls that I play with like I did when I was a child. I love how the design looked straightforward and creative, with a single figure defined by head, arms and feet. It scaled-up the girl as the largest elements in this poster which attract attention and focus. The dressed is in unusual objects like a surreal costumes and placed in a surreal setting. It includes different types of landscapes such as icebergs, mountains, and clouds.

2. Design by Martin Naumann

The poster design style is in holographic chrome textures. I love how it looks abstract, with the striking and chromatic effect and turns out into visually pleasing. The design looked artistic in bold, colourful and vibrant also with a sense of scientific approach which stands out and draw attention to the eye.

3. Design by Bryan Wan

Fig 3.1 Poster by BryanWan

The poster reminds me of cyberpunk and scientific-fiction design and the contrasting colour (black with orange) looks matches and aesthetic together. The girl at the centre is a strong focal point, she looks in 3D and added an unsettling futuristic component to the poster. I find it this will be a very creative, cool and different way to create a digital portrait.

Week 3 (07/04/2022)

During Week 3 practical class, we download few table pictures where we have to apply and add to the background provided. I learnt about how to masking and using the lasso tool to pinpoint the specific areas of the table. It was easier as I do have experienced in using Photoshop but still I manage to learnt other tools while making the table into PNG.

Week 4 (14/04/2022)
During week 4 we learnt about specific on the adjustment layers in removing background including with the tools like brightness, contrast , levels , curves and exposure while using a model as our reference during the practical. The challenging part will be the details of the woman's hair. Luckily we learnt about that really helpful while selecting the hairs with using the tools 'define hair" which is a lot more quicker and easier.

Fig 7.3 First Attempt in Recolouring

The first attempt was fun and challenging too , there's was quite a lot of steps have to take note , but soon it was a lot more easier to change the colour of the face , hair and background after the masking , I decided to improve by recolour the hair that might suit the model face and changing the background.
