Visual Design
This week, I attended the replacement class to get feedback on my visual design progress. I showed Dr. Hayati my moodboard on Miro and shared my work in Photoshop (front cover) and Illustrator (content page). It was approved for my front cover design. However, Dr. Hayati suggested that using InDesign instead of both Adobe Photoshop / Illustator. So, I switched to InDesign, which took some time to get used to again. At some point, I got frustrated when I couldn't arrange the text and info as I wanted, and it made me worried if my design would fit well with the graphics, so the progress is still slow and still in progress.
Once I finished double and triple-checking my InDesign file, it was time to export it as a PDF and upload it to fliphtml5. The process was easy and straightforward, and I quickly grasped how to navigate the platform. The most enjoyable part was customizing the presentation. I had a great time adding sound effects that played when flipping to the next page. Additionally, I incorporated a gradient background that complemented the overall look and content of my book.

Mood-board
Mood-board in Miro-board
During the mood-board phase, I utilized in using Miro board to propose my ideas for the visual design of mobile e-wallets. The mood-board consisted of various picture and ideas , including the front cover design, page number layout, page layout, and colour theme. Considering that e-wallets are related to technology, I decided to go for a sci-fi-inspired colour palette that included shades of pink, purple, blue, and black. To complement the futuristic theme, I explored different typefaces on da-font.com that had a technological feel to them. I aimed to choose a typeface that would work well for the front cover design of the dissertation, capturing the essence of technology.
Mid-Journey
During the middle of my design journey, I looked for inspiration and ideas to create the front cover of my dissertation. I tried using a tool called Mid-journey, but it didn't quite capture the essence of an e-wallet accurately. Although it didn't meet my expectations, I still think it was worth trying out for a month. It helped me explore different possibilities and learn more about what elements should be included in the design.

Finding suitable resources and illustrations related to e-wallet was a bit challenging. I often used keywords like "mobile banking," "payment," and "wallet" to search for ideas and inspiration for the visual design. Once I found the elements, I had to tweak their colors and add some grain texture to ensure they harmonized with the overall theme of the design. It took some time and effort, but I eventually achieved a cohesive and fitting visual style.

During the feedback session, I presented my progress up to the front cover and the 1.0 introduction. Dr. Hayati expressed concern about the complexity of the layout inside the document, considering the abundance of elements and grainy textures on the front cover. There was a caution about potential pixelation issues when exporting the file. Therefore, Dr. Hayati advised me to keep the interior layout simple and easy to comprehend. Additionally, Dr. Hayati approved of using both justified and left alignment in certain parts of the document.
After done more section, the feedback from Dr Hayati is that so far looking at the visual design, it was quite consistent based on the colour and layout. Therefore I able to keep going !
Siew Weng recommended me in using helps to generate my own personal barcode that can be added in the book cover design, not only that Taylor's University logo was included inside too.
To match the colour theme, I also need to change the tables and figures that are mostly in pink and purple (pastel tone) it took me quite awhile but the outcome are worth it.

Reflection
As I reflect on my assignment to create the visual design, I must say that it was a refreshing change rather from just doing dissertation with lots of text and words. Designing is something I genuinely enjoy, although I initially felt stressed and unsure when using Adobe InDesign. However, with time and practice, I became more familiar with the software, and my workflow became smoother. I am particularly proud of the final outcome of the book's visual design. All the effort and hard work put into it were absolutely worth it. Seeing everything come together and witnessing the cohesive and visually appealing result brought me a sense of satisfaction. It reminds me that sometimes stepping out of our comfort zone can lead to rewarding experiences.Overall, this assignment has taught me the importance of perseverance and embracing new challenges. It has also reinforced my passion for design and sparked a desire to continue exploring and improving my skills in this area.
